SCENE 01 / AUDIO MIXING MASTERING

Audio Mixing & Mastering

Professional audio finishing that delivers perfect balance, clarity, and impact across all playback systems from cinema to streaming platforms.

Scroll

Audio mixing and mastering are the last stages of audio post-prod. Here every sound element is balanced, set with EQ, and refined into one clean soundtrack. Mixing sets the levels and the spatial placement. Mastering then locks in steady quality and meets each delivery format spec.

We set up the audio mixing and mastering. Our rooms and engineers are ready to finish your soundtrack to broadcast, theatrical, or streaming site standards. The team handles session booking, asset delivery, and quality control. So your final mix meets both your creative goals and the tech needs.

Final mix and mastering through Italy's dub stages

Final mix and mastering for shoots wrapping in Italy rests on the dub stages that gave Italian cinema its sound. In Rome these include Cinecittà Sound on the old Cinecittà lot and Forum Music Village near the Pantheon, Morricone's longtime base, now Dolby Atmos-certified. The Rome roster also covers Global Recording Studios, Bartolini Audio and the wider Via Tuscolana cluster, FrameByFrame, and Edi Effetti Digitali Italiani. Officine Meccaniche and Lumiq Audio sit on the Milan/Turin post-prod axis.

Our post team picks the room to fit the delivery target. A festival-bound feature mixing for Cannes, Venice or Locarno goes to a different stage than an eight-episode Rai or Sky Italia drama with a hard broadcast spec. A streaming-first Netflix or Prime Video series then finishes to yet another tech standard.

Re-recording mixers in these rooms hold credits across Sorrentino, Garrone, Bellocchio, and Rohrwacher. They also work on the global co-productions that finish on Italian soil each year, many of them gaining from the Italian Cinema Plan MiC 40% rebates. Our coordinators handle session booking, stem delivery, conform checks, watched remote attendance and final QC from start to finish. So picture lock to site delivery runs with no extra handoffs or rebooking cycles.

Mastering meets each standard the project needs in one pass through the stage. No second visit is needed for site-specific deliveries. EBU R128 loudness covers Rai, Mediaset and Sky Italia broadcast masters across all dayparts and channel feeds. ATSC A/85 covers US television. Site targets ship for Netflix (-27 LKFS), Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV+, Disney+ and theatrical DCP at the right cinema loudness reference.

Full stem packages — dialogue, music, effects, optionals, foley splits and ADR splits — are delivered frame-accurate. They ship with M&E tracks ready for the Italian doppiaggio pipeline along Via Tuscolana. The same tracks suit any further foreign-language versions the project needs for global release windows. Surround formats run from 5.1 through 7.1 to Dolby Atmos object-based mixes for top home and theatrical release. Calibrated stereo and binaural downmixes come from the same session source for mobile and headphone playback. Cue sheets, SIAE sign-ups, Imaie performer records, processing logs and quality-control passes are set up for each master. So the project leaves the stage in line with the release partner's tech spec on first delivery, with no rejection or remastering cycles.

We schedule the mix around your hard delivery date, working back from it. A broadcast slot or festival premiere fixes the day stems must lock. From that we plan premix, final mix, mastering and QC as dated stages with buffer built in. We can run split shifts or book a second stage in parallel when the window is tight. You get a clear timeline up front, so each handoff lands on the day it is due.

      FAQ

      Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between mixing and mastering?

Mixing is the creative step that balances dialogue, music, and effects as a whole. It sets the levels, EQ, dynamics, and spatial placement. Mastering is the final tech polish. It makes your mix meet broadcast specs and loudness standards, and play well on every system.

What loudness standards do you work with?

We work with every major loudness standard. These include EBU R128 for European broadcast and ATSC A/85 for US television. We also hit the platform targets for Netflix (-27 LKFS), Amazon, Apple TV+, and theatrical release. Your content is set to meet each spec.

Can you create stems and M&E tracks?

Yes. We deliver full stem packages with dialogue, music, and effects stems. We also supply full M&E (Music & Effects) tracks for global versions and dubbing. Each stem is frame-accurate and comes with clear cue sheets for smooth integration.

What surround formats do you support?

We mix and deliver in every surround format, including 5.1, 7.1, and Dolby Atmos. Our calibrated mixing rooms hold accurate tracking for each one. We then create dedicated masters tuned for theatrical, home theater, and streaming sites.

Productions in Italy that need this often pair it with Audio Restoration, 5.1 Surround Mixing Services, and Foley Recording Services for full coverage. Most projects also draw on Online Conform & QC Services and Broadcast Delivery Services.
