From Rome's echoing basilicas to busy Neapolitan streets, our teams work Italy's rich and tricky historic sites with pro gear from Panalight and local suppliers. A skilled location sound team captures each part of the audio cleanly, so you avoid costly post-prod fixes.

We supply full location sound packages across Italy. Our crews are based in Rome, Milan, and Naples. They work at Cinecittà Studios and on location nationwide. Each team is matched to your production's format and scale, and it delivers pro audio that meets broadcast and theatrical standards.

On Location

On-set sound across Italy's acoustically demanding locations

Location sound in Italy works against a tough yet beautiful acoustic palette. Roman vicoli carry motorino noise and hard stone echo. Florence palazzo interiors pile footfall onto marble and hard plaster. Venetian shoots bring steady water reflection and vaporetto rumble. Apulian masseria scenes flip the problem to pure silence, which needs careful tonal control.

Our AITS-credentialled production sound mixers come from the lineage of Mario Iaquone (Sorrentino's go-to mixer), Maricetta Lombardo and Vito Martinelli. They work off Sound Devices 833 and 888 multitrack recorders, with Zaxcom Nova and Maxx for bag rigs. Microphones come from Aroundsound, EM srl and Microphone Italia. We time ZTL relief windows in Centro Storico Rome against the call sheet and plan AGCOM post-700 MHz range use in advance. Dailies then route cleanly to Cinecittà Sound, Fono Roma or Forum Music Village for ADR and dub.

We scale crews to your format and shooting style. A two-handed documentary team (mixer plus utility) can carry a vérité shoot through Apennine villages or Sicilian coastal towns. A feature on six wireless channels with playback gets a full three-position department with a dedicated RF tech. We confirm crew within twenty-four hours and brief on the sound mixer's preferred bag-or-cart setup. Timecode and metadata are lined up with the picture editor and post-prod audio house from prep onwards.

Italian-speaking mixers work hand in hand with the AD department and with Tuscolana doppiaggio cluster post houses. So daily sound reports, scene metadata, character lavs and ambient stems all line up for the ADR/dub pipeline. Our teams are covered under CCNL Cinema Audiovisivo rates, INAIL workplace cover and ENPALS reporting. They also qualify for 40% Italian Cinema Plan cash-rebates-eligible features and streamer originals.

Tough acoustics get solved on the day, not deferred to post. Our mixers scout each site, flag the noise sources, and bring the kit to tame them. Sound blankets and portable absorption knock down marble-room ring in Florentine palazzi. Tight mic technique and careful lav placement hold dialogue against motorino traffic in Roman vicoli. A generator, fridge, or HVAC unit may hum under a take. We work with the AD to kill it or schedule around it.

We build redundancy and data integrity into every recording day. Mixers run a backup track or a second recorder on key scenes. A dropout then never costs a performance. Files are offloaded to two destinations and checksum-verified before any card is wiped. Timecode is jammed across cameras and recorders at the start of the day. We check it again at each reload. Daily sound reports ship with the media, so the picture editor gets clean, well-labelled tracks.

FAQ

Our Sound Network

What's included in location sound services?

Each location sound package includes a production sound mixer, pro recording gear, microphones, and basic wireless systems. We add boom operators, extra wireless channels, and special gear to match your production's scope and budget.

What recording formats do your mixers use?

Our sound mixers work with standard pro recorders from Sound Devices, Zaxcom, and Zoom F-series. We deliver in all common formats (WAV, BWF, polyphonic). Each file ships with proper metadata, timecode, and sound reports that fit major post-prod workflows.

Can you handle challenging acoustic environments?

Yes. Our skilled mixers handle tough spots such as busy streets, factory sites, and echoing rooms. We check the acoustics during tech scouts, then suggest fixes such as wireless lavaliers, shotgun mics, and portable acoustic treatment.

How do you coordinate with post-production?

We send detailed sound reports for each shooting day, plus well labeled and organized audio files. Our mixers talk directly with your post team, and they know post-prod workflows, so they record with editing and mixing in mind.

What about multi-camera productions?

We are at home with multi-camera setups for TV, live events, and documentary. Our mixers sync timecode across cameras and recorders, manage ISO tracks for each source, and hand over stems that ease post-prod.

Do you provide sound equipment rental separately?

Yes. We offer standalone sound gear rental, with recorders, microphones, wireless systems, and add-ons. You can rent the gear with or without an operator, and we will advise on the right package for your needs.

Productions in Italy that need this often pair it with Wireless Audio Systems, Boom Operators, and Sound Recordist Teams for full coverage. Most projects also draw on Multi-Camera Shoots and Stop Motion Production.
