Post supervisors fluent in Italian Cinema Plan PCN workflow
Italy's post-prod sector is more compact than it looks. Rome and Milan hold most of the working pipelines. The core names are Cinecittà Post's DI suites on the studio lot, Lumiq's high-end finishing in Turin, and Frame by Frame's two David di Donatello VFX wins. They also include EDI Effetti Digitali Italiani's Disney, Marvel and DC credits, FrameByFrame's editing suites, EM srl's online and grading, and Square Post Production's Milan operation with a London branch. Our post-prod supervisors come out of those rooms and know the engineers, colourists and VFX leads by name.
They run multi-vendor pipelines that span edit, colour, VFX, sound edit, ADR and final mix. Our supervisors manage HDR 4K finishing for streaming and broadcast. They oversee Dolby Atmos mix theatres in Rome and Milan. They also set up DCP mastering for theatrical release across European cinema standards, including Eurimages-supported distribution. Schedules track picture-lock dates that must land cleanly inside the Italian Cinema Plan PCN, the production tax credit certification. That way qualifying post-prod spend documents through to MiC, and the 40% credit holds across the whole certification file.
Day to day, the supervisor sits at the centre of the data flow. Our post supervisors set up dailies and review sessions. These link Cinecittà-based edit with the independent post houses across Roma, Milano and Torino. They manage shot tracking, version control and quality control across VFX vendors and freelance compositors. They oversee sound edit and ADR sessions at Fonoroma and the Italian mix stages, including Cinecittà's own dubbing suites. The team also holds the schedule against the final mix, online conform, HDR colour grade and SDR trim pass.
EBU R128-compliant masters go out to RAI through the European broadcast pipeline. DCPs go to the Italian theatrical chain and to global distributors via Eurimages-supported routes. Streaming-specific deliverables go to Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, Apple TV+ and other sites, each with their own QC specs and IMF packaging.
Some productions carry a co-production treaty plan. Examples include the renewed UK-Italy MoU from 2025, the France-Italy 1949 treaty, and the Canada, Germany, Spain, Australia, China and Japan agreements. For those, the supervisor structures the post spend with care. It must satisfy both the tax-credit certification and the co-production points test that MiC reviews on final delivery. Budgets run in EUR with full IVA invoicing, and the certification file closes alongside delivery.
We match each supervisor to the shape of your post plan. We weigh the format, the delivery specs and the vendor mix across Rome, Milan and Turin. We check their prior credits, their facility ties and their language profile before we put them forward. A feature with heavy VFX gets a different lead than a fast broadcast series. We confirm they have run pipelines at your scale and can hold the schedule. That care up front keeps the post stage smooth from edit through final delivery.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What post-production facilities are available in Italy?
Italy offers strong post facilities across Rome and Milan. Frame by Frame in Rome has won two David di Donatello awards for VFX and runs 15+ editing suites with 2 grading theatres. EDI Effetti Digitali Italiani has worked with Disney, Marvel and DC. Square Post Production in Milan has 24 workstations and a London branch. Cinecittà Post gives on-lot finishing within Europe's largest studio complex.
What delivery formats do Italian and European distributors require?
Italian and European distributors mostly need EBU-compliant masters for broadcast, DCP for theatrical release, and platform-specific specs for streaming services. A post-prod supervisor makes sure deliverables meet RAI broadcast standards, European cinema distribution needs and the specs of global streaming sites.
Can post-production be managed remotely for Italian projects?
Yes. Italian post facilities support remote teamwork with cloud-based dailies, remote grading sessions and virtual screening rooms. Supervisors link Rome and Milan facilities with global partners. Square Post Production's London branch shows the cross-border workflows that Italian supervisors handle every day.
