SCENE 01 / VIRTUAL PRODUCTION
Virtual Production
LED volume and real-time VFX for your Italian production.
Virtual production blends real filmmaking with live digital worlds. It uses LED volumes, motion capture, and game engine tech to make in-camera visual effects. Directors and cinematographers see the shot at once, post timelines shrink, and the set stays creatively open.
We connect you with virtual production stages and tech teams ready to render real-time worlds for your project. Our crews handle stage booking, content pipeline setup, and on-set tech support, so your workflow runs cleanly from pre-visualization through final capture.

Capabilities
Our Process
Pre-Visualization
We plan the shots and build the virtual worlds before the shoot starts.
Asset Creation
Our artists craft detailed 3D worlds tuned for real-time rendering.
Stage Production
We shoot on the LED volume while the world plays back in real time.
Finishing
We finish with compositing, grading, and any extra VFX polish.
On Location
Cinecittà LED Stage 5 and Lumiq Turin volumes for in-camera VFX
Virtual production in Italy centers on the country's two main LED stages. Cinecittà LED Stage 5 in Rome is now the largest virtual-production volume in Italy, built for global features and series, while the Lumiq Studios LED volume in Turin serves the northern industrial belt. Beyond these two stages, a growing set of XR studios — Brand Bigi, Pulsar Studio, Rainbow XR and MAD — supports broadcast, commercial and music-video work across Rome and Milan. Curved LED walls, ceiling panels and HDR-capable processors build the in-camera worlds, and they give true eye reflections, surface highlights and live lighting that green-screen workflows cannot. Italian virtual-production supervisors trained at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia anchor the tech teams these stages need.
Our coordinators handle stage booking at Cinecittà and Lumiq. They build the content pipeline with virtual-art-department crews working in Unreal Engine 5 with Disguise media-server integration, and they direct the on-set tech that syncs real-time rendering with camera tracking. Pre-visualisation, asset creation and stage rehearsal come before principal photography. Photoreal worlds, period rebuilds of Roman or Renaissance interiors, and impossible-camera moves all arrive ready for in-volume playback. Finishing — final compositing, grading and extra VFX — runs through Italian post houses skilled at folding volume footage into the wider cut.
Productions that qualify under the Italian Cinema Plan can count LED stage rental, VAD spend and oversight fees within the forty per cent eligible costs, and ENPALS and INAIL paperwork covers the crew across the schedule.
FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What is virtual production?
Virtual production uses LED walls that show real-time rendered worlds instead of green screens. The camera sees a finished background on set, which lets you make creative calls on the spot and capture in-camera visual effects that react to the lighting.
What are the benefits over green screen?
LED volumes give true reflections in eyes and surfaces and cast real light on actors. You see the result at once, post time drops, and there is no green spill or tricky keying to fix.
What software do you use?
We mainly use Unreal Engine for real-time rendering, plus standard tools for tracking, color science, and asset management. The system works with normal cinema cameras and workflows.
Can you create custom environments?
Yes. Our virtual art department builds custom 3D worlds tuned for LED volume display. They can be photoreal places, fantasy worlds, or anything in between, and we deliver them ready for real-time playback.
What about camera tracking?
Camera tracking is key to perspective-correct backgrounds. We use pro tracking systems that sync the camera position with the virtual world, so parallax and perspective hold true as the camera moves.
Where are LED volumes in Italy?
Italy has LED volume stages through ties with regional studios. We can point you to the best stage for your needs and set up every tech part of virtual production, including crew and gear.
