Here is how this works in practice. Casting for a production in Italy draws on one of cinema's deepest acting traditions, running from De Sica and Rossellini's neorealist street casting through the Visconti–Fellini auteur era to the today's roster that Paolo Sorrentino, Matteo Garrone, Alice Rohrwacher, Marco Bellocchio, Stefano Sollima, and Gabriele Mainetti have built around.

Here is the short of it. Our casting directors include UCDA-recognized experts such as Beatrice Kruger — Sorrentino's go-to on The Great Beauty, Youth, The Young Pope, and The Hand of God — alongside Annamaria Sambucco, Massimo Appolloni, Aldo Lampredi, and the Trastevere and Centro Storico casting houses that supply principal and supporting talent to Cattleya, Wildside, Indigo Film, Palomar, Lux Vide, and Pepito Produzioni productions.

Here is the breakdown. Principal pools draw on graduates of the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia, the Silvio d'Amico National Academy, Rome's Accademia Nazionale d'Arte Drammatica, and the major drama conservatories in Milan and Naples, with talent agencies — Movie People, ATA, Notorious Pictures, Personality, and Locuzioni — represented in our submission network for both Italian theatrical features and David di Donatello-tier prestige series finishing for RAI Fiction, Sky Italia, Netflix, and Disney+ Italian originals. Each session is recorded for remote review.

Sessions run at professional casting rooms across Rome, Milan, Naples, Florence, Bologna, and Palermo, with self-tape pipelines, live video auditions for remote directors, and full recording of in-person reads for callback review.

Here is what that looks like on the ground. Bilingual Italian–English casting is core to the practice: we shortlist actors with documented global credits and real regional accents from Roman to Sicilian to Milanese to Neapolitan to Venetian and Tuscan. We extend the search to French, German, and Spanish-fluent performers for co-productions structured under Italy's treaty network — the 1949 agreement with France remains active alongside agreements with the UK, Australia, China, Japan, and the Ibermedia members covering Spain, Portugal, and Latin America.

Here is how the picture comes together. Background and crowd-scene casting flows through our AD network, with specialty extras — period-trained dancers, equestrians, sword-and-sandal stunt performers, hand-to-hand combat trained Roman-era supporting cast, and Risorgimento and fascist-era supporting cast — set up through the long-standing rosters that supply Cinecittà, the Apulia Film Commission, the Sicily Film Commission, and the Sardegna Film Commission. Italian Tax Credit and ENPALS, SIAE, and CCNL Cinema Audiovisivo compliance are built into our contracting so principal-cast spend qualifies cleanly under the 40% rebates through to David di Donatello, Nastri d'Argento, and Venice Film Festival delivery, with festival travel and press coverage set up through the production legal team.
